Terms of Service

Plain English summary

Use Synthibase only for legitimate healthcare testing with synthetic data. Don't enter real patient information. Don't abuse the platform. We provide the service as-is and aren't liable for how you use the output. If you break the rules, we can terminate your account.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Synthibase ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Synthibase.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Synthibase is a synthetic clinical data generation platform that allows healthcare implementation teams to create fictional X12 EDI transactions (834, 837, 835, 277, 278) and HL7 v2 messages for testing purposes.

All data generated by Synthibase is fictional and synthetic. The Service is not intended for use with real patient data.

3. Account Registration and Access

To use Synthibase:

  • You must create an account with accurate registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • One account per person — you may not share login credentials

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You specifically agree NOT to:

  • Enter, upload, or process real protected health information (PHI) in the Service
  • Use the Service to generate fraudulent claims or EDI transactions for submission to real payers
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary algorithms from the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the Service to harm, defraud, or deceive any third party
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations including HIPAA
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract data from the Service

Critical: Using Synthibase-generated transactions for actual submission to insurance payers, clearinghouses, or healthcare systems as if they were real claims is strictly prohibited and may constitute fraud. Synthibase generates test data only.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, algorithms, and documentation, is owned by Synthibase and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

You retain ownership of any data you input into the Service. Synthibase retains ownership of the platform, its AI models, and any improvements derived from aggregate usage patterns.

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. SYNTHIBASE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Generated transactions will be accepted by any specific EHR, clearinghouse, or payer
  • The Service will meet your specific testing requirements
  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SYNTHIBASE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL SYNTHIBASE'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Synthibase and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Your submission of real patient data to the Service
  • Any fraudulent use of generated transactions

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
